Dear AP Calculus BC Students,
I want to express my gratitude for all your hard work and for being patient with me. I know that I put you through a lot, but it was simply to try to get you to work toward your potential. I was under a great deal of pressure this past year and I apologize if that spilled over into the classroom. Anyhow, you should all be very proud of yourselves for the high level of mathematics that you were able to master.
I will not be teaching AP Calculus for the foreseeable future in order to give other teachers the opportunity to rotate into the honors program. However, students will be in excellent hands as Mr. Dalsass will continue to teach AP Calculus BC and will share his expertise with whomever works with him in the honors program.
I am proud of the results that Mr. Dalsass and I have had over the past four years in Calculus BC. In all we had 352 students take the AP Calculus BC test (with only about 5 or 6 not taking the test) and we had 195 fives (55%), 71 fours (20%), 62 threes (18%), 21 twos (6%), and 3 ones (1%). We had an overall pass-rate of 93%, which is significantly higher than the national average.
I have tremendous respect for Mr. Dalsass, both personally and professionally. His dedication to El Camino students is unrivaled, and I KNOW that these results will only continue to improve.
Good luck to all my seniors at the university level, and to my juniors in their final year at ECR. Continue to achieve greatness in all that you do and never forget to be kind and compassionate to everyone you encounter.
